The Fields host a continuous program of training and education for all staff and we’re especially proud to be a training site for the Dover High School Licensed Nurses Aides program.

Watson administrator Wendy Switzer is an advisor to the Dover High Career Technical programs. With the increasing demand for LNA’s in recent years, Wendy has led the Fields’ effort to provide multidisciplinary training for two dozen students at a time and worked with the faculty nurses to develop programs geared to the Fields residents.

The result is young people with good clinical skills and an appreciation of the dignity of aging. The residents enjoy and benefit from the training. Our intergenerational programming keeps everybody young!

Dr. Hopkins and Jeff Mitchell RN, a Great Bay graduate, have arranged for GBCC
nursing students to do one of their clinical rotations at Bellamy Fields. Geriatric and Psychiatric nursing skills in assisted living facilities are in high demand now and guaranteed to increase.
The skill set is unique to the assisted living setting where nurses can establish
long term relationships with residents, practice comprehensive, interdisciplinary nursing
including palliative and hospice care  and enjoy psycho-social nursing.
Getting to know residents, understanding the challenges of aging and developing nursing skills across the mind-body continuum are teachable skills unique to assisted living.”
